Improve your understanding of insurance regulation. Regulation affects every insurance professional. By earning the ARC designation, you will gain a better understanding of the insurance regulatory environment and the effect regulation has on the business of insurance. You will be able to understand the interests of both insurance regulators and those who must comply with insurance regulation.
Required Courses
Certificate or Designation: The choice is yours. You can earn a Certificate of Completion for passing only the IR 201 exam. Or you may choose to earn the ARC designation by passing the AIAF 111 and CPCU 520 exams in addition to IR 201.
The following course is required to earn a Certificate of Completion:
IR 201-Insurance Regulation: Evolution of Insurance Regulation; Federal Government; State Insurance Departments; NAIC & State Legislatures; Solvency Regulation; Regulation of Formation, Licensing, & Marketing; Regulation of Underwriting & Rates; Regulation of Claims; Regulation of Agents & Brokers; Receiverships & Guaranty Funds
The following courses are required in addition to IR 201 to earn the ARC designation:
AIAF 111-Statutory Accounting for Property and Liability Insurers
CPCU 520-Insurance Operations, Regulation, and Statutory Accounting
Exam Type
IR 201/AIAF 111: Eighty-five computer-administered, objective (multiple-choice) questions. Time allotted: 2 hours.
CPCU 520: Computer-administered essay. Time allotted: 3 hours.
