1- Purpose
This policy outlines the methods IIE uses to ensure trainers and assessors maintain current vocational knowledge, industry skills, and training/assessment practices, in line with compliance requirements and industry standards.
2-Scope
This applies to all trainers, assessors, and contractors engaged in delivering training and assessment on behalf of IIE.

Ensuring trainers remain competent in both vocational skillsand training/assessment practices.

Supporting staff in engaging with continuous professional development (CPD).

Monitoring and recording evidence of industry currency and compliance.
4- Methods for Ensuring Trainer Knowledge is Current
1- Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Trainers must complete a minimum of 24hours annuallyof CPD activities.

CPD activities may include workshops, seminars, online courses, and compliance updates.
2- Industry Engagement
Trainers maintain contact with industry via:

Attending industry networking events.

Participating in professional associations.

Consulting with employers and industry representatives.

Conducting site visits or industry placements.

3- Vocational Skills Maintenance

Trainers undertake practical activities in their vocational field to maintain current skills.

Trainers may complete short courses or higher-level qualifications to update expertise.
4- Assessment Validation & Moderation

Trainers participate in regular assessment validation sessions.

Trainers review and update assessment tools to align with current industry standards.
5- Peer Review and Mentoring

Trainers observe and provide feedback to each other.

Mentoring arrangements support new or developing trainers.
6- Regulatory & Compliance Updates

Trainers attend internal compliance briefings to stay updated on changes to standards, frameworks, and legislation.

Policy and procedure updates are communicated to trainers during meetings and PD sessions.
7- Student and Employer Feedback

Trainers review learner and employer feedback to identify gaps in knowledge or skills.

Feedback informs PD planning.
5- Recording and Evidence

Trainers must keep an Industry Currency & CPD Logwith supporting evidence (certificates, notes, attendance records).

IIE maintains centralized trainer files for compliance purposes.

Records are reviewed annually by the Compliance Officer/Training Manager.
6- Responsibilities
-
Trainers: Engage in CPD and provide evidence of industry engagement.

Training Manager: Monitor CPD participation and industry engagement, provide support.

Compliance Officer: Maintain CPD records and verify evidence for audits.
