Staff Training and CPD Policy
1- Purpose
This policy outlines the IIE’s commitment to the ongoing professional development of its staff. It ensures that trainers, assessors, and support staff maintain and enhance their skills, knowledge, and qualifications to deliver high-quality training and services.
2- Scope
This policy applies to:

All trainers and assessors.

Administrative, management, and support staff.
3- Policy Statement
IIE is committed to:

Ensuring staff maintain the qualifications, skills, and knowledge required for their roles.

Supporting staff to participate in relevant training, workshops, conferences, and industry engagement.

Meeting all compliance and regulatory requirements for vocational education and training.

Embedding a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
4- CPD Requirements
1- Trainers and Assessors

Must hold the required vocational and training/assessment qualifications.

Must maintain vocational competency relevant to the units they deliver and assess.

Must undertake regular professional developmentin:
-
Vocational training and learning
-
Competency-based assessment
-
Industry skills and knowledge
2-Other Staff
-
Administrative and support staff are encouraged to complete professional development relevant to their roles, e.g., customer service, compliance, IT systems, or student support.
3- Minimum CPD Hours
-
Trainers/assessors are expected to complete a minimum of 24 hours per yearof documented CPD.

Other staff will have annual development plans agreed with their manager.
5-Types of CPD Activities
CPD may include, but is not limited to:

Attending workshops, seminars, or conferences.
-
Industry placements or work experience.
-
Completing additional qualifications or short courses.
-
Internal training sessions and staff meetings.
-
Research and self-directed learning in vocational or teaching areas.
-
Peer observation, mentoring, or coaching.
6- Recording and Evidence

All staff must maintain a CPD record/log and provide evidence (e.g., certificates, attendance records, reflective notes).

IIE will maintain central CPD records for compliance and audit purposes.
7- Responsibilities
-
Staff: Actively engage in CPD and keep accurate records.
-
Managers: Support staff development, identify training needs, and approve CPD activities.
-
Training Centre: Provide opportunities, funding (where possible), and resources for staff training.
