Student Attendance and Punctuality Policy


 1- Purpose

 

This policy sets out the requirements and expectations for student attendance and punctuality to ensure successful participation, compliance with IIE standards, and a positive learning environment.

 2- Scope

 

This policy applies to all students enrolled in training programs and to staff responsible for monitoring attendance.

 3- Policy Statement

 

IIE is committed to:

  • Maintaining high standards of attendance and punctuality to support learning outcomes.

  • Monitoring attendance in line with funding, licensing, or regulatory requirements.

  • Supporting students to overcome barriers affecting their ability to attend classes regularly and on time.

 4- Attendance Requirements

 1- Minimum Attendance Standard

  • Students are expected to attend at least 80–90%of scheduled classes (or as required by specific program regulations).

  • Attendance is recorded for each class/session.

 2- Notification of Absence

  • Students must notify IIE as soon as possible if unable to attend due to illness or other reasons.

  • Supporting evidence (e.g., medical certificate) may be required for absences longer than 2 days or affecting assessments.

 

 3- Make-up Sessions

  • Where possible, students may be required to attend catch-up sessions or complete additional work to cover missed content.

 5- Punctuality Requirements

 1- Start of Class

  • Students are expected to arrive on time for all classes.

  • Late arrivals may be marked as partially absent or refused entry if disruptive.

 2- Breaks and Early Departures

  • Students must return promptly from scheduled breaks.

  • Leaving early without permission may be recorded as an absence.

 6- Monitoring and Intervention

 

  • Attendance records will be regularly reviewed.

  • Students with low attendance or repeated lateness will be:

  • 1- Given a verbal reminder.

  • 2-Issued a written warning if no improvement.

  • 3- Referred to management for further action, which may include suspension or cancellation of enrolment (in line with regulatory requirements).

 7- Responsibilities

 

  • Students: Attend classes regularly and punctually, notify of absences, and provide evidence when required.

  • Trainers/Assessors: Accurately record attendance and address issues of lateness or absenteeism.

  • Administration/Management: Monitor attendance records and implement intervention strategies where necessary.

 8- Review

This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure compliance with funding body, licensing, or regulatory requirements, and to support continuous improvement.
